The Yugoslav basketball legend Dragan Kicanovic was born 17 August, 1953 in Čačak, Yugoslavia. The 192-centimeters-tall shooting guard spent the majority of his career with Partizan Belgrade (1973-1981) team, also enjoying two successful seasons with the Italian side – Scavolini Pesaro (1981-1983).
Kicanovic’s EuroLeague career was a very short-lived. He played just one season in the EuroLeague, playing five games and scoring 67 points. The majority of his European club competition career was in the FIBA Saporta Cup and FIBA Korac Cup, winning a total of three titles of these tournaments – two with Partizan and one with Scavolini. He was one of the greatest scorers in the Yugoslav League history, winning three Top Scorer awards (1976, 1978, 1979). Kicanovic scored a total of 10 163 points in his career.
Internationally, Kicanovic was able to win all the possible accolades, from the Olympic Games (1980) to FIBA World Cup (1978) and three Eurobasket titles (1973, 1975, 1977). His prolific scoring efforts helped Kicanovic to win the 1974 FIBA World Cup MVP award, as well as the Top Scorer title at the FIBA 1982 World Cup.
In his EuroLeague, Saporta Cup, Korac Cup, and international games from 1974 to 1982, Kicanovic scored 2994 points in 145 games.
