Gabriele Vianello

The Italian basketball legend Gabriele Vianello was born 6 May, 1938 in Mestre, Italy. The 191-centimeters-tall forward played the majority of his career with the leading Italian side – Olimpia Milano (1962-1967).

Vianello made his EuroLeague debut in 1962/63 season, averaging 15.0 points per game. The following seasons turned out to be successful ones for the Italian forward. Vianello helped Olimpia to win the EuroLeague title in 1966, scoring 222 points in 12 games, averaging 18.5 points per game. He had a stellar performance in the Final against Slavia, scoring 21 points and winning the EuroLeague Finals MVP award. In the Italian League, Vianello had a successful run, winning five national titles – one with Pallacanastro Varese and four with Olimpia Milano.

Vianello was a regular member of the Italian national team, playing in three Olympic Games (1960, 1964, 1968), averaging 6.2 points per game. In his EuroLeague and international games from 1959 to 1968, Vianello scored 961 points in 92 games.
