Georgios Kolokythas

The Greek basketball legend Georgios Kolokythas was born 2 November, 1945 in Korinthos, Greece. The 200-centimeters-tall forward spent the majority of his career with Panathinaikos (1965-1972), ending his career early due to a serious knee injury – at the age of 28.

Kolokythas was a very versatile player, and a prolific scorer, winning three Greek League Top Scorer awards (1964, 1966, 1967), as well as two Eurobasket Top Scorer awards (1967, 1969). He made his EuroLeague debut in 1967/68 season, scoring 102 points in 4 games, averaging 25.5 points per game.

In total, the Greek legend played three seasons in the EuroLeague, scoring 158 points in 9 games, averaging 17.5 points per game. He helped Panathinaikos to reach the EuroLeague semifinals in the 1971/72 season, averaging 9.0 points per game.

In his EuroLeague, FIBA Saporta Cup and international games from 1965 to 1972, Kolokythas scored 881 points in 44 games.
