Henri Grange

The French basketball legend Henri Grange was born 14 September, 1934 in Saillans, France. The 193-centimeters-tall power forward spent all his career with ASVEL Basket (1954-1969) team. He helped his team to win 7 French League titles.

In 1958, the 24-year-old Grange made his debut in the EuroLeague. In total, he played three seasons in this competition, averaging 9.3 points per game. In 1964/65 season, Grange helped ASVEL to reach the 1/4 finals stage, where they lost to the eventual champions – Real Madrid. The Frenchman retired from basketball in 1969, at the age of 35.

Grange was a regular member of the French national team, winning the bronze medal at the Eurobasket 1959, averaging 9.0 points per game. ASVEL’s forward also took part in two Olympic Games (1956, 1960) and 1963 FIBA World Cup. In his EuroLeague and international games from 1955 to 1967, Grange scored 679 points in 69 games.
