The Hungarian basketball legend Janos Simon was born 1 March, 1929 in Budapest, Hungary. The 194-centimeters-tall center spent all his career with the local club – Honved Budapest.
Simon made his EuroLeague debut in the inaugural, 1958 season. He helped Honved to reach the semi-finals stage, finishing the season Top 5 in scoring with 121 points in 7 games, averaging 17.3 points per game. In total, the Hungarian center played five seasons in the EuroLeague, scoring a total of 312 points in 21 games, averaging 14.9 points per game.
The Budapest-born center enjoyed success on the international stage, winning the Eurobasket in 1955. He also played in two Olympic Games (1952, 1960). In his EuroLeague and international games from 1953 to 1965, Simon scored 701 points in 76 games.
