The Yugoslav basketball legend Ljubodrag Simonovic was born 1 January, 1949 in Vrnjačka Banja, Yugoslavia. The 196-centimeters-tall shooting guard played the majority of his career with Crvena Zvezda (1967-1976) team, winning two Yugoslav League titles.
Simonovic played two seasons in the EuroLeague, scoring a total of 248 points in 14 games, averaging 17.7 points per game. On the European arena, he enjoyed more success in the FIBA Saporta Cup, winning the competition in 1974, while averaging 20.5 points per game.
He was a part of the Yugoslav roster that won the 1970 FIBA World Cup. In his EuroLeague, Saporta Cup, Korac Cup, and international games from 1967 to 1978, Simonovic scored 999 points in 79 games.
