Ramūnas Šiškauskas

The Lithuanian basketball legend Ramūnas Šiškauskas was born 10 September, 1978 in Kaišiadorys, Soviet Union. The 198-centimeters-tall guard/forward played for Sakalai Vilnius (1996-1998, Lietuvos Rytas (1998-2004), Benetton Treviso (2004-2006), Panathinaikos (2006-2007), and CSKA Moscow (2007-2012) team, enjoying a great success in the EuroLeague.

Šiškauskas made his EuroLeague debut in 2000 with Lietuvos Rytas. The 23-year-old Lithuanian finished the season with 261 point in 20 games, averaging 13.1 point per game. His next appearance on the EuroLeague courts happened three years later, when Šiškauskas joined one of the leading Italian teams – Benetton Treviso.

The Lithuanian sharpshooter helped Benetton to reach the 1/4 Finals and Top 16 stages in his two seasons in Treviso, averaging 12.3 points per game. Šiškauskas also helped the Italians to win a league title in 2006, averaging 12.0 points per game, and winning the Finals MVP Award. After this success, he moved to one of the leading European teams – Panathinaikos.

Šiškauskas was a key player in the title run of Panathinaikos. The Greeks earned theirplace in the Final Four which was held at PAO’s home arena in Athens. In from of their fans, Panathinaikos had a nerve-wracking Final against the CSKA Moscow. Šiškauskas had an excellent game, recording 20 points and 5 assists, and leading Panathinaikos to a narrow 93-91 win.

After winning his first EuroLeague title, Šiškauskas joined the CSKA Moscow team. He made an instant impact, winning the EuroLeague MVP award and leading the Army Club to a title in 2008. Šiškauskas was one of the best scorers in that season, averaging 14.0 points per game in 24 games. During CSKA career, Šiškauskas made the Final Four in four out of five seasons. In 2012, the Lithuanian legend retired at the age of 34.

As the member of the Lithuanian national team, Šiškauskas won the Eurobasket 2003 tournament, averaging 14.0 points per game, also adding a bronze medal to his collection in 2007. He also helped Lithuania to win the bronze medal at the 2000 Olympic Games.

In total, Šiškauskas played 9 seasons in the EuroLeague, scoring 1916 points in 163 games, averaging 11.8 points per game. In two of those seasons, he finished the season Top 10 in scoring. In his EuroLeague, Saporta Cup and international games from 1956 to 1964, Šiškauskas scored 2837 points in 230 games.
