The Soviet basketball legend Viktor Zubkov was born 24 April, 1937 in Rostov-on-Don, Soviet Union. The 204-centimeters-tall center played the majority of his career with the CSKA Moscow team (1957-1967).
Zubkov made his EuroLeague debut in 1960/61 season, instantly making a great impact on the success of the CSKA team. He helped the Red Army side to win the EuroLeague title while finishing the season Top 10 in scoring, averaging 14.5 points per game, and winning the Finals MVP award. The Rostov-on-Don born center also made a great impact on the CSKA’s success in the 1962/63 season, as they won another EuroLeague title. In total, Zubkov played 5 seasons in the EuroLeague, scoring 308 points in 37 games, and averaging 8.3 points per game.
Internationally, the Soviet center won three Eurobasket titles, while also winning the Eurobasket MVP award in 1959. Zubkov had a very successful career in the Soviet League, winning 8 USSR Premier League titles in his career. In his EuroLeague and international games from 1955 to 1965, Zubkov scored 834 points in 90 games.
